Typing
Just grab your phone and pretend you’re typing on the screen. Then add some on-screen text like: texting your bff about some juicy gossip, when you get into an argument and have to pull over to keep texting, or even a POV from your cat (lol).

I’ve had this song has been on repeat for the last week and a half. I love it. Creators are using it to show off their line dancing, but you can also use it over pretty much anything: making pancakes, your dog turning on the faucet, or a time lapse of you hustling.

The Difference Between “Reach” and “Impressions”
Vocab time.
“Reach is the total number of people who see your content.
Impressions are the total number of times your content is displayed, no matter if it was clicked or not.”
Reach refers to how many different people view your content. Ideally, all your followers would catch every post, but that's not usually the case. (Anyone else miss chronological feeds too? 🥲)
Impressions, on the other hand, count how often your content appears to someone. So, if a post pops up three times for the same person, that's three impressions, even though the reach is just one individual.
Why should you know the difference?
Because it will allow you to better understand your audience.
The more you understand, the easier it gets to change/adjust your strategy and get whatcha want out of your content.

The Foodie B*tch asks: Was it really worth the gentrification?
You know when you’re in the mood to scroll but nothing really grabs you until you find one that stops the scroll?
The other day I was scrolling through Instagram reels and came across this one: “Was it really worth the gentrification?” And the on-screen title totally caught my attention.
I’m a big fan of foodie content. I love to cook and I love watching a video of someone cooking a delicious looking recipe so I can save it in a folder on whatever social media account and probably never cook it (lol).
BUT I say this because I’ve seen a lot of food content: story times, super sped up, chatty, ASMR, and even that one dude who makes his food content seem… provocative? (That one is not for me).
So this concept (“was it really worth the gentrification”) felt so fresh and playful while also still tackling the issue that is gentrification.
Check out this reel featuring an LA ice cream joint that has the yummiest looking sundaes: *cries in lactose intolerant*
Even the caption is clever! “if something has me willing getting on the 101 it must be worth *something* 🤭 from an ice cream aficionado this shit SMACKS why were we ever eating banana splits without brulee-ing the nana first 😒 im never going back”
For those who aren’t in LA: all LA freeways are a bit of a nightmare but the 101 is the WORST. So it really must be that good.
This one made me laugh because it’s so short.
Asia (The Foodie B*tch) has really done something here. She’s found a way to take a genre of content (food/restaurant reviews) and do it in a way that’s creative, interesting, and uniquely her.
It feels like she’s just being herself and sharing her thoughts with a friend.
What if you could do the same?
Takeaway for Creators
I don’t have a numbered list for you but instead I have more of an idea:
what if you could do this too?
Is there a type of content you love to watch?
What are some common types of content in your industry/space? Is there a way for you to take a unique spin on it?
This might not be something that comes to you immediately, but let it simmer.
It can be valuable to create content without thinking too much because we can often get in the way of ourselves, and there’s also a lot of value in spending some time on content that took time to think about and create (if that’s something you want to do).
If you do end up creating something your stoked about, send it my way! → brittany@createitcompany.com

Call for a Cease Fire
“With every passing day, hour, and minute, the Israeli military is making good on its promise to ‘open the gates of hell’ on the 2 million Palestinians trapped under Israeli siege in Gaza.
The loss of life over the last month has been staggering — almost too big to hold. But we must act now, because the Israeli government is plowing forward toward a fully genocidal attack on Palestinians in Gaza. We must demand a ceasefire now.”
Call your member of Congress now and ask them to join these strong anti-war voices calling for a ceasefire.

💭 Final thoughts
I’d like to circle back to bagels for a moment because I bought a baker’s dozen from a local bagel shop, sliced them and froze them.
And it’s easily the best decision I made this week.
See ya next week,
